Miami, Florida, March 29, 2021 – Global PoleTrusion Group Corp.’s (GPGC) Director of R&D and Chief Engineer, Omar Abdelkarim, Ph.D., P.Eng. has recently published two articles in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) journals. Both articles present studies on the use of Fibre-reinforced Polymer (FRP) rebar in two concrete infrastructure projects constructed in Quebec, Canada: a highway concrete bridge and highway concrete pavement. This research promotes the use of composite materials in socio-economic development projects, with the aim of building sustainable and durable infrastructures.
The total number of citations of Dr. Abdelkarim’s publications has recently surpassed 500, which signifies the importance of his research in the scientific community. He has also been selected twice as an Outstanding Reviewer by the ASCE Journal of Bridge Engineering (2017 and 2019). Dr. Abdelkarim is leading the effort for developing GPGC’s products using unique and innovative solutions.
